Configuration

In the Custom Fields sections of JIRA Administration, select “Add Custom Field” and then select the “Tables Custom Field” option.

After giving the custom field a name and selecting the applicable contexts, go back to the Custom Fields section of JIRA Administration and select “Configure” in the options dropdown of the newly created Tables custom field. Then select "Edit Default Value".

You are now in the configuration view of the Tables custom field. From here you can add and remove columns, set default values, and select whether to show row numbers.

Let’s start out by adding a column. Select the “Add Column” button and give the column a name and a data type.

This column now appears in the configuration view.

If you add a column with a data type of “Select”, you can add options and rearrange their order right from the “Add Column” window.

After adding all of the columns that you need, enter in any default values that you want to be automatically displayed any time a user creates a new issue. Now just hit “Set Default” and your Table is all set!

Tips

Removing row numbers

You can choose whether or not to display row numbers right from the configuration view. Just check or uncheck “Show Row Numbers” and hit “Set Default”

Removing columns

To remove columns, just navigate to the configuration view and select “Remove Columns”. From here you can remove one or many columns.

Searching your Tables data

You can search the contents of every instance of your Tables custom field right from JIRA’s native search. From the JIRA search page, select the Table that you want to search under the "More" option. A helpful dropdown will let you pick what column to search and what content to search.

Fixing incorrect data types

When a user enters in a data value that is inconsistent with what is intended, the cell will be highlighted red to notify them of this error.

Once the error is fixed, the cell will return to a white color.
